Flowzbevtz Interview

Who is Flowzbevtz? Talk to us about us your music career journey

Flowzbevtz (real name Sifiso Sphesihle Kunene) is a 22-year-old producer, rapper and vocalist from KZN, Madadeni township who has been making music for over 6 years now. I started making music at the age of 15 with just my phone and with the help of YouTube, I taught myself how to make music.

In 2021 I dropped my debut trap Ep “Fresh From Esdaks”, followed by “2Fresh From Esdaks” in 2022. Last November I switched and dropped my first Amapiano offering “Short Left Ampiano Street”, the project changed my life landing me my first Spotify curated playlist, the rest is history.

Talk us through your latest single “Ngeke”, and the creative process of getting it done.

It was fun and challenging, but I was in the zone. My friend “Jay Ur Mate” added killer elements that made it even hotter. It just became undeniable on the dance floor the first time we dropped it in a crowd, they went crazy. It’s available on all digital platforms, stream it baba!

What does this single signify for you at this point in your career?

It shows that I have grown musically and that there is a following for my craft. It debuted on AmaPiano Grooves, among the biggest playlists in the world Joe. Radio has also welcomed it, so I feel like a lot of good things are still going to happen. I just have to believe in myself and believe in God.

Why did you title it “Ngeke” Does it hold any significant meaning?

When I was making the song, I was telling myself that “Ngeke ngize ngihluleke” meant I will not fail so I saved the project files as Ngeke. Since there are no actual lyrics to the song, the name stuck.

How and when did you know you wanted to be a musician and was this news received with love or resistance from your family?

In grade 7, my neighbour made me fall in love with rap music and I started rapping and learning how to make beats. By 2019, I decided I want to make music for life. My parents weren’t happy as my father tried being a musician but failed. Today they have accepted my decision and have been supporting me for 2 years.

Are there any South African artists you would love to work with? And why?

Of course, number one is Blxckie, because I feel like he always understands the assignment and he delivers it. In Amapiano I’d love to work with Mawhoo because I feel like she kills every beat she hops on. I also vibe with Major League, the guys took the genre to the world. I hope they see this interview and we work soon.

What’s next for you?
More music coming, my next project, _Short Left AmaPiano Crescent_ is the soundtrack this summer. I have a few dope features on it including Bassie and Audio Addicts. Ngeke video is also on the cards. Plus, a nationwide club tour. Follow FlowzBevtz on all socials to stay connected with your boy.
