Stakev closes the month of spring with a new project release ‘Bittersweet’ on Friday September 29th ushering Amapiano lovers into summer. In this project the ‘Kwenzenjani’ hit maker has worked with renowned industry acts such as Kabza De Small, Focalistic, Ch’cco as well as the ‘uMlando’ hit maker, Toss, to mention a few. This star-studded project is a blend of bitter & sweet elements; it is set to take listeners on an unforgettable sonic journey filled with contrasting emotions and unexpected twists of pure music feel mixed with the streets. This is what Stakev had to say about what ‘Bittersweet’ means to him and what he’d want it to mean to its receivers:

‘Bittersweet’ was preluded by the release of a single ‘Suka Suka’ on Friday September 22nd; it has been a week since its release and already it has amassed 106K worldwide streams. The 13-track album drop comes after the release of ‘Rekere’ in February 2023 in which Stakev collaborated with Kabza De Small, which has itself has garnered above 5,3 Million streams in South Africa.

Kelvin Tebogo Khumalo, better known as STAKEV was born in Soweto, Diepkloof. Stakev started doing music during his high school days in 2010 and that was just from his love of music. He broke into the industry when did a remix of Elaine’s song title ‘The One’ and it just so happened that it circulated online and got him noticed by the right people. He is influenced by DJ Kent, DJ Cleo, Kiffer and Jacob Collier. He looks up to Kabza De Small & DJ Maphorisa and he wants to be noticed as the best DJ / Producer of all time.
