Karabo Lephoto, stage name ‘Bandros’, is a DJ, producer, and events coordinator hailing from the east of Johannesburg, in Katlehong. Bandros is a dance music lover who was first introduced to the masses as a deep house DJ and has now branched off into Amapiano. His sound is not limited to Amapiano; he dabbles in deep house as well as lounge music. He is an avid music collector who is mainly influenced by the likes of DJ Stokie, DJ Lastborn, DJ China, Vinny Da Vinci, and DJ Christos, to name a few. He is known for his exclusive music selection, consisting of heavy baselines, log drums, and jazzy chords that are combined with deep house, afro-pop, and soulful music inspirations.

All of which gives him his signature “Brazilian Flair”. Bandros has ventured into music production, noting his 2022 releases such as his single “Mogodu Monday” as well as his EP “The Messiah,” all of which were well received. His odyssey has been a very musical one, with a great deal of musical experimentation along the way. He aims to bring a whole new sound to the world—a culture of music, art, and everything in between. Bandros’ first studio album, ‘Brenda’, is an ode in song primarily to his mother. As a musical dedication and token of appreciation, this album is named after his mother, simply paying homage to her.

The album has a particularly distinct sound as it tilts more towards the soulful side of Amapiano. It encompasses vast soulful elements and jazzy chords while maintaining Bandros’s signature baseline. Similarly, Brenda, his mother, is a soulful woman who loves soulful music. Furthermore, Bandros is paying homage to his fans, the people who have supported him throughout his journey in music. This album is inspired by the likes of Stokie, Kabza Da Small, and Kelvin Momo, just to name a few. Overall, this is an outstanding offering, and one can safely conclude that Bandros put his heart and soul into this project.
